The name I use for my public work.
Dr. Lakisha® is a federally registered mark. Most people read the symbol as a legal notice printed beside a name. It is that. It is also the shortest way I have of saying who stands behind the work.
Cannabis and Hemp
Where the record begins.
The registration names cannabis and hemp. That is where the work was first built, and it is where the record of use begins, in 2016.
Cannabis is a botanical case study within the work. The method does not stop at one plant.
The Through-Line
What the name carries.
Across the laboratory, the field, the policy table, and the page, the through-line is the one my grandfather handed me. Botanical knowledge is medicine. It belongs to the people. And it deserves to be built into the systems that decide who receives care, not left at their edges.

DR. LAKISHA is a federally registered standard-character trademark and service mark on the Principal Register, U.S. Registration No. 6,739,939, registered May 24, 2022.
In the field of cannabis and hemp, the registration covers printed materials, endorsement and public advocacy, education, scientific information, and health and agricultural information. It also covers specified business management and consulting services for the industrial hemp industry.

Governance
Separate institutions.
The mark is used in my practice. It is not the mark of the Kiona Foundation. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) with its own board, its own mission, and its own governance. Its research is charitable and it is funded by donation. EABICCS, TGR Holdings LTD, and the other organizations I represent keep their own identities and their own authority.
The mark identifies the human source of work carried under the name. It does not make those institutions one institution.

If you find Dr. Lakisha® on work I did not authorize, it did not come from me.
